Premiered during the Guimarães European Capital of Culture festivities, in 2012, Ouvertures and Closures extends the relation of the composer with the orchestra. Mendelsshon’s Violin Concerto, op.64 in E minor was written in 1822 is one of his most important orchestral works and the eloquent Symphony n.2 op.73 in D minor composed by Brahms in 1877 is, according to his own words, a work where “the melodies flow so freely that one must be wary not to stumble upon them.”
